A few weeks ago, my fabulous husband posted an article about Tulsi tea. Of course we wouldn’t post something we weren’t willing to try ourselves (how else would we give an honest review) so I headed out to the local grocery store to see what I could find.
Reese’s Cup Easter eggs and a magazine later, I am female, I stumbled upon the organic tea isle. We are very lucky to have an amazing selection of organic goods, so needless to say, it was definitely a search. Finally at the very end of the isle is an entire row of Organic India Tulsi Teas, about 15 different flavors worth. I am extremely indecisive, again I am female, so I called Jake to get his input. After reading him each box multiple times, he decided to just go with the original non-caffeinated Tulsi tea, while I, wanting a coffee alternative, chose the caffeinated Chai Masala Tulsi tea.
To be completely honest, I’m not a tea fan. I love a good glass of southern sweet tea, but when it comes down to hot teas, I’ve never found one I enjoyed. Until now that is. Organic India’s Tulsi tea was amazing! I had my first cup a few mornings ago when I had to be up and at ‘em before my normal wake up time. It was extremely hard to get the thought of a Starbucks vanilla chai latte out of my head, but I groggily found my way to the kitchen and started some water to boil. Within a few minutes, I had a bag steepening in my super cute green coffee mug. I added a little bit of skim milk and started sipping on one of the best cups of chai I’ve ever had. It was delicious, warm and not overpowering like some coffees.
Even more surprising, was how much energy I had all day long. One small cup and I was good for the day! It was great to have so much energy without a jittery coffee high. Needless to say, Tulsi tea is now my morning pick me up. Another wonderful, quite possibly the BEST thing about Tulsi, is the cost. I paid $4.59 for a box of 18 tea bags, which can easily be used twice. 36 cups of tea for the price of my old go-to latte … I’ll take it.
Here’s the link again to Dr. Mercola’s site where he explains the many benefits of Tulsi tea. He sells a 5-pack, 18 bags per box set for only $19.97. Again, so much cheaper than coffee stands. You can get Tulsi in a great variety of flavors such as lemon ginger, pomegranate green, and raspberry peach. I definitely recommend you pick up a box and try it out. Never hurts to feel better and save money while doing it.
